Faculty members, staff, and students of Malvar Senior High School welcomed Mrs. Rosalie L. Liwanag, their new school head, Oct. 3.
At 8:00 a.m., Mrs. Liwanag, together with some school heads and representatives from Alitagtag District, arrived. As they entered the school, they were greeted with applause while being led to the stage for the formal opening of the short program.
Present on the occasion were Dr. Aniano Hernandez, the Public Schools District Supervisor of Alitagtag; Dr. Gina Laksmana, the Public Schools District Supervisor of Malvar; Dr. Jhomar Sor, the former school head of Malvar SHS; Mr. Ronald Reaño, the former Officer-in-Charge (OIC); Mr. Gilbert Perez, the President of School Heads in Malvar, Mr. Dennis Castillo, Malvar SHS Faculty President; Hon. Servillano Perilla, the Barangay Chairman of Poblacion; Mr. Murphy Reaño, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) President; school heads and representatives from Malvar and Alitagtag Districts; Malvar SHS teaching and non-teaching personnel, and students.
In his speech, Mr. Marvin Saludo, Master Teacher II, formally welcomed and congratulated the new principal and spoke of the latter’s transfer of station as a new beginning and opportunity.
Mrs. Liwanag also received congratulatory messages for her promotion from her colleagues in the profession.
Being the former school head, Dr. Sor asked her to continue to nurture the culture that had already been established.
As leaders of the school’s student and faculty organizations, both Mr. Murphy Reaño and Mr. Castillo expressed their support for the new principal, respectively. Likewise, Hon. Perilla conveyed the support of the local government unit to her.
Meanwhile, Mr. Perez gave her a piece of advice through the symbolisms of the rubber band (being flexible), a pencil with an eraser (being prone to commit mistakes and correct them), and the tea bag (learning how to read the room).
Before endorsing Mrs. Liwanag to her new home, Dr. Hernandez introduced how she is as a person and as a co-worker by telling everyone that she possesses 3S (sincerity, sacrifice, and success).
This endorsement was received by Dr. Laksamana who enthusiastically acknowledged the new member of the Malvar District.
After this, Mr. Ronald Reaño expressed his support to Mrs. Liwanag on behalf of the faculty members and told her that leadership is like a padlock that exists with a key—for every problem, there is a solution. He then turned over his duties and responsibilities as OIC to the new school head by symbolically passing to her the school flag.
Mrs. Liwanag accepted her responsibility as the new school head and said, “I would like to have a healthy team with engaged members…Let us grow through grafting. Let us connect all our strengths, talents, skills, and passion.”
