STEM Students Spark Innovation Following Robotics Training at Batangas State University Malvar Campus

Batangas, Philippines — April 15, 2024

In a bid to foster innovation and technological prowess among the youth, 41 STEM students from Malvar Senior High School recently participated in a comprehensive robotics training program at Batangas State University's College of Engineering Technology.

Under the expert guidance of engineering professionals and educators, including Engr. Joel Cornejo, the Extension Project Coordinator, and Engr. Darwin Tiquio from National University Lipa Campus, students delved into the intricate world of robotics. The program, covered a wide array of topics ranging from Arduino Uno programming to the practical application of LED lights and robot construction.

The training kicked off with inspiring opening remarks by Engr. Norxine Montalbo, Dean of the College of Engineering, setting the tone for an immersive learning experience. Through hands-on activities and simulations using TinkerCAD, students were able to grasp complex concepts and apply them in real-world scenarios.


Ms. Imelda G. Silva, Head of the STEM Group at Malvar Senior High School, expressed her enthusiasm for the training, emphasizing its transformative impact on the students. "After our enriching experience at the robotics training hosted by Batangas State University, our STEM students are not just equipped with technical skills, but also with a newfound passion for innovation," she remarked.

Silva further highlighted her hope that the training would serve as a catalyst for continuous inspiration, propelling students to explore the realms of robotics and unleash their creativity. "I am hopeful that this training continues to ignite a spark of creativity within our students, empowering them to delve deeper into the world of robotics and bring their ideas to life," she added.

The initiative was lauded by school officials, including Mr. Perry Taborda, School Program Coordinator, and Engr. Ian Karlo Perilla, Physics Teacher, who underscored the importance of providing students with opportunities to engage in hands-on learning experiences that transcend the boundaries of traditional education.

As the students return to Malvar Senior High School, they carry with them not only newfound knowledge and skills but also a renewed sense of purpose and excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead. With the support of dedicated educators and institutions like Batangas State University, the future of STEM education in the Philippines shines brighter than ever.
