Malvar Senior High School Commemorates 124th Independence Day

Independence Day (Araw ng Kalayaan) is an annual National Holiday that the Philippines celebrates in observance of its freedom from Spain in 1898. This annual celebration also aims to honor the sacrifices of our forefathers, their heroism, patriotism, and nationalism.

As the nation marks its 124th anniversary, the Department of Education encourages both public and private schools to participate in activities that are related to the celebration. Each school are also expected to initiate other activities that will help students to instill the values that this event holds including the greatness of the Filipino race.

Just like the previous year, the Student Supreme Government officers used the small flags and put them on display to all floors of the school building to commemorate this historic event. Like true heroes from the past, they take pride in representing leaders of today.

“This really is a timely event for everyone, we should become independent of hatred and war. May we also become independent of fear and start becoming more aware of ways to protect ourselves from viruses and infectious diseases. As we celebrate this year’s independence, may we become one, united, who urges advancement for the nation’s sake.” – Alex, SSG Vice President
