Ms. Joie Miranda, Guidance Designate from Malvar Senior High School, leads other Junior and Senior High School Guidance Counselors and Designates from Area 3 in discussing the Career Guidance Program Implementing Guidelines for SY 2020-2021, March 16.
The guidelines were issued pursuant to the Memorandum from the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) No. 00-0520-0030 s. 2020 and the Joint Memorandum from the Office of the Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction (OUCI) and the Office of the Undersecretary for Field Operations (OUFO) on the Amendment and Transfer of the Management and Supervision of the Career Guidance Program to Curriculum and Instruction Strand.
These were meant to guide all stakeholders in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Career Guidance Program (CGP).
It was emphasized in the orientation that despite the present educational challenge confronting the Department of Education, it is firm in institutionalizing a career guidance and counseling program for students in all public and private secondary schools nationwide based on Republic Act No. 11206, otherwise known as the Secondary Career Guidance and Counseling Act of 2019.
Since the beginning of its implementation, career guidance program (CGP) was aimed at guiding secondary level students in choosing career tracks that they intend to pursue through informed career choices towards becoming productive and contributing individuals.
Aside from CGP, the guidelines on counseling and referral system of learners, which were stipulated through a memorandum, were also explained. These guidelines were anchored on Republic Act 11036 or the Mental Health Law and were aimed at addressing mental health concerns of Filipino learners.
After clarifying the guidelines to the participants from different schools in Area 3, Ms. Miranda engaged them through an open forum.
She ended the orientation seeking for everyone’s cooperation and telling them, “We’ll be working on this hand in hand for the future of our learners.”
