Malvar SHS holds gift-giving, San Pioquinto LGU gives cash aid

By: Keana Villanueva

Malvar Senior High School held a gift-giving activity for 60 select student beneficiaries as a way of sharing their blessings and giving back to stakeholders, Dec. 14.

This is a customary activity that began when the school was established in 2016. This year, the theme is “Paskong Blue Generals, Pasko ng Pagmamahal.”

It was spearheaded by the Faculty Association of Malvar SHS. In his opening remarks during the short program, Mr. Dennis M. Castillo, recognized the employees of the institution as well as those who became the school’s partners for their generosity in extending help to others.

“Ang kababaang-loob at pagmamahal sa inyo [mga mag-aaral] ang dahilan kung bakit kayo binibigyan. Maaaring ang handog na ito ay saglit lamang mauubos, subalit ang pagmamahal ay mananatili sa aming puso,” Mr. Castillo said.

Meanwhile, the school principal, Mrs. Rosalie L. Liwanag, spoke about counting one’s blessings and sharing these with others.

“Remember that we have two hands: one to help ourselves; the other to help others,” Mrs. Liwanag stressed.

She further reminded the recipients to let the activity be their inspiration for them to aspire for their goals and in return, give back to other people who will need their assistance.

Each of the recipients was given five kilograms of rice and grocery packs.

According to Jhon Kelvin Jimenez, a 16-year-old STEM 113 student, the gifts given by the school were a big help to his family this holiday season.

“Sobra po akong nagpapasalamat sa mga guro at empleyado ng paaralan dahil nagkaroon po ng ganitong pagdiriwang,” he said.

Shortly after the school’s gift-giving, Brgy. San Pioquinto, through its Chairman Hon. Vic Villanueva and SK Chairman John Carlo Bizarres, distributed Php 500.00 to 100 students who are residents of the said barangay.
