Schools Division Superintendent Visits Malvar Senior High School on First Day

The first day of school at Malvar Senior High School was marked by a special visit from the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) of Batangas Province, who came to monitor the implementation of the day’s activities and provide feedback.

The visit included a tour of several classrooms, where they interacted with the fresh Grade 11 Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) students. Accompanied by Rosemarie Gonzales, Project Development Officer I of SDO Batangas Province, the visit was impromptu but well-received. While the overall feedback was positive, the SDS noted that some buildings, particularly Building B, still required additional repairs despite recent efforts by the Local Government Unit (LGU).

In addition to classroom visits, the SDS inspected various school facilities, including the canteen and the STEM Lab, ensuring that everything was in order for the new school year.

The day began with a morning assembly, where students and staff sang the national anthem and the school hymn. Ms. Raquel Cruz, the Prefect of Discipline, guided the program and warmly welcomed the students. The Supreme Secondary Learners Government (SSLG), led by Frinz Matthew Villasoto, awarded the top five students who arrived early, with some students arriving an hour before classes started.

Students expressed a mix of nervousness and happiness as they embarked on their new academic journey. The first period was dedicated to homeroom, where teachers provided an orientation on school rules, expectations, and conducted the election of homeroom officers. Following the homeroom period, regular classes commenced.

Quotes from students on their first day:

“I was a bit nervous, but seeing my friends and meeting new teachers made it exciting.”
“The orientation was very helpful, and I feel more prepared for the school year.”
Prior to the first day, the SSLG actively used their official Facebook page to update students on what to expect, with announcements starting as early as five days before the first day of school. The El Calibre student publication also played a significant role in documenting the day’s events.

Feedback from the faculty members:

Jerrold Ramos (Humanities and Social Sciences - Filipino): “The first day went smoothly, and the students were very cooperative.”

Marianne Caraig (Humanities and Social Sciences - English): “It was a well-organized start, and the students seemed eager to learn.”
Marvin Saludo (Technical Vocational and Livelihood): “The communication among teachers was excellent, ensuring a smooth flow of activities.”
Imelda Silva (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; and Accountancy, Business, and Management): “The students were disciplined, and the first day was a success.”
Ms. Raquel Cruz, Prefect of Discipline, remarked, “The first day was smooth and well-disciplined. The teachers had good communication and knew exactly what to do and present.”

Overall, the first day at Malvar Senior High School set a positive tone for the academic year, with students, teachers, and staff working together to create a welcoming and productive environment.
